In a recent post, we shared some mid century rentals in and around the Portland area with you. But if your retro road trip in Oregon isn’t taking you to the Portland area, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the chance to stay in a mid century rental. Let’s explore some of the most beautiful Mid Century Modern rentals throughout Oregon for a trip back in time.
Mid Century Tillamook Cabin on the River | Tillamook, Oregon
Tillamook, Oregon is known as the “Gateway to the Oregon Coast.” Secluded beaches and rugged cliffs define this part of Oregon, which is also home to the popular Tillamook Cheese Factory.
While the coastal scenery is breathtaking, you may have a hard time stepping away from your lodging if you book a stay at the Mid Century Tillamook Cabin on the River. Lounge on the coach or kick back in the Eames Lounge Chair, enjoying a wide open layout and picturesque views through a wall of windows.
The two-bedroom rental comes with all the amenities you could ask for, including SmartTVs in both rooms, a record player, a Sonos sound system, and games for guests. The kitchen is stocked and ready. Book your stay at GlampingHub.
Bluebird Day – Stargazer Mid Century Modern House | Bend, Oregon
Moving inland from the coast, we have the Stargazer Mid Century Modern House in Bend, Oregon. This city in central Oregon is a haven for outdoor lovers, putting visitors in close range of sites like Tumalo State Park, Pilot Butte State Park, and the Oregon Badlands Wilderness.
In Westside Bend, you’ll find the Stargazer, an authentic MCM gem constructed in 1965. Lovingly restored inside and out, it features a classic mid century roof profile, a minimalist interior, black stainless appliances in the kitchen, and vintage furnishings dating back to the mid century period. You also will get to enjoy local artwork.
Along with a full kitchen, amenities in the Stargazer include European-style luxury bedding, cruiser bikes, HDTVs and a private hot tub. Book your stay at AirBnB.
Mid Century Modern – Ferry Street Bridge | Eugene, Oregon
If you will be spending some time in Eugene, OR, you will want to book a stay at this remodeled MCM rental. Realtor Kathryn Dunn purchased the 1963 property in 2005, updating it with modern conveniences while preserving the mid century flavor. It has a vintage kitchen, including a mint-green fridge, Keurig coffeemaker, and Marmoleum floor. There is a queen-size bed in each of the two bedrooms.
You can book your stay in this updated MCM rental by visiting AirBnB.
Mid Century Modern in S. Eugene | Eugene, Oregon
While the Ferry Street Bridge property is a great choice for a mid century stay in Eugene, it is not the only option. In fact, Kathryn Dunn owns another lovely property, a unit that is part of a 7-unit MCM apartment building located in the south part of town and dating back to 1961.
Kathryn writes, “My Mom, Diane Dunn, bought it in 1992, from the first owner who was a long-time acquaintance of our family—so my family is only the second owner. When my Mom took it over, she named it ‘The Tropics’ and painted the exterior pink. She then began refurbishing & decorating the interiors of each unit to instill a mid century vibe. My Mom passed away in 2015, and left the apartment building to her kids. At that time, AirBnB had become popular, and we decided to try it. So we updated the only 2-bedroom, corner unit in the building to create what we call the Southtowne Pad.”
Escape to this restored MCM getaway by booking your reservation at AirBnB.
Coast Cabins: Windward | Manzanita, Oregon
Finally, returning to the Oregon coast, we have Windward, a Mid Century Modern private rental located in Manzanita. This little town is home to just around 600 people, making it a peaceful spot to get away from it all.
And nowhere will you find more tranquillity than in the Windward, referred to by Coast Cabins as an “oceanfront jewel box.” While the beach house has been updated, the structure dates back to the mid century period.
This MCM rental is the seat of luxury, warming your feet with radiant in-floor heating and offering views of the ocean through huge windows. You’ll have a full kitchen with European appliances at your disposal and a gas barbecue where you can cook outside. There are also a dry sauna, steam shower, and outdoor shower to enjoy. Book your stay at Coast Cabins.
