IKEA (A.K.A. the home of Danish Mod on a budget) is ready for the coziest season of the year with its new VÄRMER line. It launched last month and is full of all your holiday go-to’s, like soft textiles, stylish serving-ware and unique accessories that tie the space together.
By creating items that equally value form and function, the new collection is able “to make you and your loved ones feel even more at home.”
VÄRMER was created by two designer families— one in Kenya and one in Sweden. Naeem Biviji and Bethan Rayner, from Kenya, were inspired by “typical seasonal activities like the avocado harvest and getting together for a cup of mulled wine…. Our products are about making it easier and more fun to interact, whether sharing a meal, playing games, or just having a chat.”
Sarah and Jens Fager, the designers from Sweden, take a similar approach: “We really love the holiday season, cozying up with family and friends… so the items we’ve designed for VÄRMER are very personal. We’ve created functional objects, with a high design value, made in materials that will last for many years to come.”
Though the designers live in opposite sides of the world, they hope their homeware can be used for time together, no matter the weather.
“[They’re] beautiful, timeless and functional pieces of furniture and decoration… designed for all kinds of celebrations, but above all, for being together,” says IKEA.
