AR Project House Inspiration: A Star Home in Calabasas

Design takes inspiration from many sources, and Atomic Ranch’s Project House is no exception. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were not the only stars of A Star is Born. The Calabasas home designed by architect Douglas Rucker serves as the home of Bradley Cooper’s character in the film, and is a real live source of inspiration for a spacious home that takes its cues from mid century design.

Situated on a little more than one acre in the Monte Nido neighborhood, the 1973 home embodies the indoor-outdoor connection for which California MCM is famous. Walls of windows afford views out to the spacious landscape, a refuge in the Malibu Canyon. An outdoor kitchen and fireplace bring indoor comfort and convenience outside. While the majority of the lot remains outdoors, the home itself has plenty of elbow room at 2,986 with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths.

Warm wood frames the view, and the interior’s warm wood and central beams from its post-and-beam construction brings a bit of the outside in.
