Fall and winter holidays are just around the corner, so we thought it was a good time to spotlight some of our favorite MCM dining rooms.
Let Texture Do the Talking
Natural light and a predominantly neutral palette really allows texture and shape to come to the fore. Sculptural serving bowls and salt and pepper shakers have room to shine, and the color of the food itself will also stand out more in a room with a clean, neutral palette.
But Color Is So Fun!
This Palm Springs dining room takes a different approach, embracing vivid desert color with gusto. The scene is set for a lively MCM holiday at this Tulip table with orange placemats, yellow ceramic plates, textured orange glasses and wood-handled cutlery.
Cozy Dining
For smaller scale dining, a cozy banquette evokes diners and childhood memories–well, for some of us. Greenery makes it special, and the classic white dishware adds to the sophisticated diner ambience.
Balance & Asymmetry
This MCM dining room’s star is the wood table with organic, asymmetric edges. It almost appears to float because of its sleek metal frame rather than chunky wooden supports. This dining room also embraces bold pops of color but in judicious quantities that don’t overwhelm the space.
Starry & Turquoise
Funky votive candle holders and the textured circles on the white vase add textural interest in this MCM dining room. The starry plates echo the mid century space theme of the Sputnik chandelier, and the pops of turquoise cohere well with the MCM color scheme throughout the dining room and spaces beyond it.
