The outdoor conversation area built around a Malm fireplace allows homeowners and guests to linger and enjoy stargazing on cold desert nights.

An outdoor kitchen with counter seating, nearby dining table and croquet mallets makes this outdoor space multi-functional for food preparation, dining, and playing!

A platform allows room for a conversation area to sip on cocktails or lounge in the sun surrounded by the sand and boulders of Joshua Tree.

A Bonus Desert Sanctuary: The Bunny Cabin

A separate cabin on Mod West Ranch’s property gives even more options for indoor-outdoor connection!

It was challenging to scramble over the boulders up to the Bunny Cabin—which probably originally had a wooden staircase leading up to it—so the couple hired a company tao create a minimalist staircase out of poured cement.

An al fresco bathroom behind the Bunny Lounge allows one to bathe, shave and even, well, flush, outdoors. The structure abuts Bureau of Land Management lands, so there’s no one around to see.

Joshua the dog enjoys the shade in another open air area equipped for ping pong, outdoor Jenga or typing away on a vintage typewriter!

Mod West Ranch is located in Pioneertown, and this wagon wheel gives a nod to the town’s pioneer-era history.
