Starlight Village consists of 29 detached homes situated near Austin, Texas. Eight different models, varying from 1,300 to 3,000 square feet, embrace all aspects of mid-mod living. And the neighbors? Developers Theresa and Michael Kopecky envisioned this community and put it into play in 2016. Kopecky says, “We are now well into Phase II building, and have several families living in their MCM dream homes. Among our Starlight neighbors, we’ve got everything from sleek Danish Modern, to ‘50s flair and ‘villain lair.’ We also created personal garden spaces for each home, which have been visualized by our residents as a koi pond, a sun deck and even a living plant wall,” Theresa explains.

“The Lido” is the neighborhood pool and pavilion. Like the rest of Starlight Village, its style is iconic and unmistakably midcentury. But perhaps the most intriguing part about Starlight Village is the “lock and walk” idea. These homes were built with the mindset that anyone can lock up and leave for a month and the community will take care of the exterior of the home; perfect for on-the-go living and a jet set lifestyle.

Each home is “technically a condo unit, tended and cared for by the HOA,” explains Theresa. “Yet, it was important to us that people relate to this project as their personal home.”

Even though the homes have 21st century amenities and floor plans, there are many nods to classic midcentury style. In each home, one can find accents such as custom cabinets, light fixtures and backsplashes that are appropriate to the Space Age vision. Custom décor pieces have been specially sourced by the Kopeckys. “Starlight uses local builders and suppliers, extensively researching and sourcing authentic MCM details to create beauty around every corner,” Theresa says.

Along with the stunning features of Starlight Village comes the close proximity to downtown Austin. That might mean a night out for dinner and live music, or for canines, there’s a half-acre off-leash private park and a scenic trail to be enjoyed very close to Starlight.
