What’s better than a day spent immersed in MCM design, architecture and history? How about a whole weekend! Join us in Idaho to celebrate the modernist history of Boise. From a cocktail reception to a day of home tours capped by an evening talk about renovation and preservation it’ll be a weekend filled with gorgeous homes, intriguing post-war history and modernist camaraderie.
We’re excited to take you on a tour of modern Boise in partnership with Mid Century Homes by Anthology where you’ll tour some of the city’s historic gems from homes to civic buildings.
Kick off the weekend with tickets to a walking tour of the Mountain View Cruzen neighborhood which puts you in the the heart of North Boise’s greenbelt full of beautiful parks, all the downtown amenities and an eclectic mix of some of Boise’s earliest modernist homes.
Then before dinner grab tickets to a biking tour of the Hillcrest neighborhood, a treasure trove of mid-century modern architecture, along the Boise Bench. It’s a historic community filled with sprawling ranch-style residences and innovative architectural gems. Your guides will illuminate you about the fascinating history of one of Boise’s premier Mid Century neighborhoods.
Saturday is home tour day! Check in at Mid Century Homes by Anthology ‘s new and newly renovated office in a converted Phillips Petroleum gas station designed by area legend Clarence Reinhardt. You’ll receive your tour map with instructions on where to go to take a tour of 3 amazing mid century gems that exemplify the modernist spirit of Boise including a thoughtfully renovated sloped-roof ranch with tons of original features– the home even had a bomb shelter! There’s also a new build which brings together the best of Eichler and Rummer designs of Northern California and reimagines them for Boise. Last but not least tour an uber cool and uber eclectic low slung modernist ranch with a groovy hideaway feel filled with vintage style and touting an incredible original kitchen.
If you want to amp up your experience, upgrade your tour-day ticket to the VIP version which gives you access to an evening reception and talk at the famed Phillips House where you can join Jickie Torres, editor of Atomic Ranch and TJ Pierce of Mid Century Homes by Anthology and the homeowners of the day’s tours for a rousing conversation about renovation, design and preservation. The VIP ticket also includes a copy of the latest in the Atomic Ranch book series, Remodeled Marvels: Your Guide Understanding, Planning and Designing your Next Mid Century Transformation.
Wrap up the weekend with a second chance to take the walking or biking tours of Cruzen and Hillcrest.
