Attend the First Denver Modernism Week!

What if there was a place where Midcentury Modern enthusiasts could come together to share their love for all things mid mod? Enter the Denver Modernism Show.

Denver Modernism Show, Denver Modernism Week Atomic Ranch — **Photography courtesy of Atom Stevens** Lynwood is one of several historic mid mod neighborhoods in the Denver area. Builder H.B. Wolff & Company and architecture firm Gratts & Warner developed this uniquely planned community in 1956. Designs included single-level and tri-level ranch homes in 12 different models. This house exhibits the 600-3 Plan A, which features three bedrooms, two baths, a wood-burning fireplace, a private sectioned-off outside patio, and mahogany panels throughout the structure.

Since 2006, over 3,000 fans of midcentury design and retro culture have attended this annual event—with each show being bigger and better than the last. Whether it’s the Denver Modernism Trailer Park, the Motorama Car Show or the Miss Modernism pageant, there’s always a reason to come back.

Introducing, Denver Modernism Week

This year, the Denver Modernism Show has introduced a new addition: Denver Modernism Week. Real estate broker and Denver’s Midcentury Modern expert, Adrian Kinney, principally sponsors the show. He also is the co-organizer of the weeklong event along with Atom Stevens.

“We intentionally scheduled the event to coincide with the long-running Denver Modernism Show to build upon the event’s original mission and audience and to add a great deal more content that people have been looking for,” Atom explains.

So, What is Denver Modernism Week?

Similar to Palm Springs’ Modernism Week, the event’s purpose and mission is to “educate and celebrate modernist architecture that we have here in Denver,” Adrian explains. Co-founder and organizer of the event, Adrian Kinney has extensive expertise in mid mod real estate and interior design. “It is truly a passion for me, and that passion has translated to my crusade to educate the Denver Metro area about what modernism is,” Adrian says.

The weeklong event features:

Lecture series on mid mod landmarks
Historic home and building talks
Open house style home tours in several midcentury Denver neighborhoods such as Cliff May, Lynwood, Krisana Park, and Arapahoe Acres
Talks and panel discussions with designers, real estate professionals, and architects
Film screenings featuring the area’s architecture
Exhibits about mid mod architecture and design

The first ever Denver Modernism Week takes place from August 19^th to August 26^th throughout the Denver metropolitan area.

“Ultimately, our goal is to build awareness of this unique and inspired period of architecture and design to encourage preservation of the Denver area’s existing structures and neighborhoods, and influence a revival of the values of good human-centric architecture and design that makes mid-century modernism so special,” Atom explains.
