This is mood luxury lighting at its most atmospheric
Lighting can have a huge impact on an interior space and can change the way a room feels to its occupants. For example, dimmed lighting creates a more relaxed atmosphere than bright lighting. Mavisten Edition, a San Francisco-based design brand, brings the warm atmosphere of Golden Hour into the home with the launch of their new Copernica lighting collection. The sculptural design is inspired by the enterprising spirit of Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who theorized a model of the universe placing the sun, rather than Earth, at the center.
Rays of Sunlight
Following Copernicus’ model of the universe, the design of the Copernica Collection places the illuminated Emberline bulb at the center. These premium LED bulbs, each with a lifespan of 20,000 hours, emanate a warm illumination and recalls the magic of the California sunset.
Michael Almodova, designer and founder of Mavisten Edition, explains the feeling that the lighting will offer homes. He says, “I designed the collection to bring the beauty of a celestial shape into people’s homes and let them wonder about the infinity of space. The warm glow of the sun is the center, where life revolves around. My passion for light comes from the magic of Golden Hour of the California sunset. I want people to feel that atmosphere in their homes.”
Attention to Detail
The shape of Copernica also creates a sense of wonder for the cosmos. Michael used the interconnected shapes of the design to depict the universe in orbit. A juxtaposition of a smoked glass dome shade, along with the orbiting brass ring and the illuminating LED bulb placed in the center reimagines the beautiful mysteries of an infinite universe.
Michael’s interest in lighting led him to pursue an education in product design and engineering at Stanford University, beginning his journey towards a career in design. After 20 years of industry experience from former positions at Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and Arhaus, he co-founded Mavisten Edition in 2018 with his business partner, Eric Hsieh. Eric, who comes from a family of Taiwanese lighting makers, leads the Mavisten Edition team along with Michael, as they work to celebrate the magic of light through innovative design.
The Copernica Collection includes luxury lighting options for every room. The lamps are designed to pair perfectly with Mavisten Edition’s own Emberline LED bulbs. The collection and bulbs are available in Mavisten Edition’s online store.
