Having already launched a modular sofa with the furniture giant, the latest IKEA x Tom Dixon collab shifts focus to the bedroom.
What to Expect of the IKEA x Tom Dixon Collab
Launching in February 2019 and donning the same name as the sofa before it, meet the Delaktig bed frame. This new design is an IKEA hacker’s dream thanks to the oh-so modular design. The frame can be paired with a number of headboards and accessories—perfect for creating a custom bedroom on a budget.
“I’m fascinated by the bed as a kind of primary unit that everybody needs. It’s essential; we spend more time in contact with our beds than with any other piece of furniture. So why not make it do more?” said Dixon in a statement.
Released so far have been peeks at a jet-black headboard and a rattan version. The Delaktig frame is made of 50% recycled aluminum and features an ultra-lightweight design.
The bed frame’s only limitation is size, as it will launch only in queen size. The price tag will vary based on the chosen headboard and accessories, but the frame is expected to retail for approximately $450.
