Wallpaper and Mid Century Modern design are wonderful companions; MCM inspired wallpapers tell an artistic story all their own. They have loads of retro-chic personality, featuring anything from a constellation of starbursts in red, blue, and yellow to bold, repeating geometric shapes in a primary color. As this home demonstrates, whatever they feature, they transform any space. “When a room feels ‘flat’ to me, wallpaper often creates the energy I’m looking for,” Elin says.

Elin selects her Mid Century Modern inspired wallpaper by looking for geometric patterns, fun colors, and bold prints that dazzle the eye and entice the mind. “I always say to ‘let the wallpaper be your art.’ Oftentimes, a stunning wallpaper this is all you need to give the eye something fun to look at,” she says. When a room has wallpaper, it’s always dressed to impress.

Once she has her wallpaper selected, Elin creates create flow by repeating the colors in other aspects of the room. “I choose a focal point and build around it,” she says. “And I make sure to keep it simple because too much activity or pattern can become too much.” She also enjoys using more than one pattern in a space. “When I do that, I tie the patterns together with a unifying aspect,” she says.
Finally, Elin says to have fun with wallpaper and embrace its flexibility. “Wallpaper can be removed when you tire of it,” she reminds. “But oftentimes it creates a lively environment that will energize you every time you walk into the room.”
