The Shag House Series hosted by Atomic Ranch arrives this May.
If you didn’t get to attend the grand unveiling of the highly anticipated Shag House in Palm Springs this past February for Modernism Week, you’re in luck. By popular demand, Atomic Ranch is hosting The Shag House Series at the now iconic newly renovated mid century modern home in Palm Springs’ Little Beverly Hills neighborhood. The series takes place over three days from May 2-4 and consists of two days of self-guided house tours on Thursday May 2nd and Friday May 3rd, and culminating in a Talk & Tour soiree on Saturday May 4th where guests can enjoy light bites and refreshments and enjoy a live interview between Atomic Ranch editor Jickie Torres and the artist Shag.

The Shag house, which began construction in 2023 and completed in spring of 2024, is the creative project of the artist Shag, who designed each and every space of the home—inside and out—drawing from his own signature artwork style. From the floors to the furniture to the accents and exterior, every element of the design and architecture was conceived by Shag. The experience of touring the house is truly like stepping into a Shag painting come to life.
It’s taken a crew of experts and specialists to bring Shag’s design from rendering to real life. They include interior designer Francie Flynn who had the arduous task of sourcing the furnishings and finishes—and in some cases custom making them so that each room would be an exact representation of Shag’s drawings. Those weren’t the only elements that needed to be created especially for the Shag House. Fina Meraz, the hard surfaces coordinator, not only was the source for all the unique hard surfaces for the Shag House, but she also worked with Karin Jeske of Tesselle to have custom cement breeze block created to match Shag’s renderings perfectly. Tim P. Turner was the landscape designer that materialized Shag’s lush garden setting and General Contractor Jim Nelson was responsible for the building and engineering it took to bring everything in the real world.
Guests to the Shag House series will be able to tour the entire property and take in the abundant details which are hard to capture and best appreciated in person. Guests for Saturday’s event will have an hour and half to tour the property, and mix and mingle with Shag, Jickie and fellow Shag fans. Then guests will be treated to a live interview as Shag talks about his ideas and goals for the house, the process of overseeing the project and watching it come to life. A Q&A afterwards will allow guests to get in on the interview and ask their own burning questions about the renovations and his artistic approach.
